How can you make toast and toasters interesting? Is it even possible? Apparently it is. Reliant, a brand specialised in the production of white goods, have created an unbelievably catching serial advertising campaign transforming the toaster, one of their products, into the main character of an engaging narrative.
Reliant’s goal has been to create a series of videos able to tell a simple but important story: toast preparation. This is something that is usually taken for granted, so no one is going to pay attention to the process and the results. One is just asleep, thinking and moving around still like a sort of zombie, then magically the toasts appear all together with coffee, this is more or less the average perception of breakfast, isn’t it?
Some deep reflections about the otherwise banal process of making toast in the morning, a persuasive and almost hypnotic narrator, a soft and impalpable soundtrack and a bit of irony so as not to take themselves too seriously: these are the ingredients of the serial commercials, from a certain point of view a masterpiece of brand entertainment more than an advertising campaign.
